Depending on the offence, you may still be able to get your security license with a criminal record in Ontario. The Ministry has a list of criminal offences if you are convicted for and have not received a pardon you would be disqualified from receiving your security license. There are numerous offences not on the list such as theft under $5,000 and common assault. Keep in mind a conviction is what disqualifies you. Charges do not necessarily prevent you from getting your security license. When you apply for your security license you would still need to declare both outstanding charges and convictions. Ultimately it is up to the Deputy Registrar’s office of the Private Security and Investigative Services Branch to determine if you will be eligible to receive your security license in Ontario. As a training entity we would not be able to determine if you are eligible other than what is mentioned here.
Ontario Security Hub is an Ontario Ministry approved security guard training entity. We will assist you with the entire process of getting your security license. To start your online security guard training in Ontario create an account on our website. Our training is more than reading pages and pages of information. It contains quizzes, assignments and real world scenarios.
if i have had a criminal negligence conviction (not causing death) can i still get a security guard licence
Hello, if it is not on this list you are still eligible to apply: https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/080037 It’s up to the Ministry whether they’d approved it.
I had to sign a common law peace bond I have very specific restriction just do not possess weapons and not to be around the guy who turned out to put the blame on me which I didn’t do according to my lawyer that was the best thing to do, so I did he mentioned and court this doesn’t mean I am convicted or plea of guilty, since court and lawyer saying my charge of just a assault as been dropped I don’t have any criminal record so am I eligible to renew my security license?
If you do not have a conviction, you should be able to renew your licence. Service Ontario will still perform the background check to confirm. You can reach the Service Ontario licencing office directly at 1-866-767-7454
