According to the Ontario Ministry responsible for regulating security guards, the minimum in-class time required for the security guard training program is 40 hours. We deliver the security guard training online based on the 40 hour curriculum and the 11 required topics. According to the syllabus, the training does not have to take place in-person and can be web-based. The training entity must also provide real-time interaction with the instructor if required by the individual. For those enrolled in our course, you can speak to us directly by phone or live chat if needed. Most people can finish our course within 1-2 weeks if they spend time on it daily. Unlike other providers we do not set any time limits on our course. The 11 topics covered in the 40 hour course curriculum are:
- Introduction to the Security Industry
- The Private Security and Investigative Services Act
- Basic Security Procedures
- Report Writing
- Health and Safety
- Emergency Response Preparation
- Canadian Legal System
- Legal Authorities
- Effective Communications
- Sensitivity Training
- Use of Force Theory
We also offer Emergency First Aid and CPR in major cities across Ontario. According to the WSIB, first aid training must have an in-person part. Currently there are no online only first aid providers approved by the WSIB. For the full list of WSIB approved first aid trainers see this page.
Our course aims to get you job ready through video lessons, real world scenarios, quizzes and reading materials. Enroll in our online security guard training and you will receive the Training Completion Number required to book your Ministry test.
